Lost on the River Trail

Odette and Finn run along the river trail every Saturday morning. Today, they try a new part of the trail.
Odette y Finn corren por el sendero del río todos los sábados por la mañana. Hoy, prueban una parte nueva del sendero.
The path forks near an old wooden sign. The sign is old, and the words are hard to read.
El camino se divide cerca de un viejo letrero de madera. El letrero es antiguo, y las palabras son difíciles de leer.
"I think it says the lake is this way," Finn says. He points left.
«Creo que dice que el lago está por aquí», dice Finn. Señala a la izquierda.
"I think it says right," Odette says. "Let's go left, because you saw it first."
«Yo creo que dice a la derecha», dice Odette. «Vamos por la izquierda, porque tú lo viste primero».
They run down the left path for ten minutes. The trail gets narrow and rocky.
Corren por el camino de la izquierda durante diez minutos. El sendero se vuelve angosto y rocoso.
"This doesn't feel right," Odette says. "Maybe we are on the wrong path."

They stop and look at their phone map. The blue dot shows them far from the lake trail.

"We went the wrong way," Finn says. "The sign meant right, not left."

They turn around and run back to the fork. This time, they take the right path.

Ten minutes later, they see the lake through the trees. Blue water sparkles in the morning sun.
Diez minutos después, ven el lago entre los árboles. El agua azul brilla bajo el sol de la mañana.
"We found it," Odette says. She laughs. "Next time, I choose the direction."

"Deal," Finn says. "But I still think the sign was confusing."
