The Coffee on the Bench

Odette investigates who has been leaving a fresh cup of coffee on her running route's park bench every single morning.
Odette runs past the same park bench every morning before work. For the last two weeks, she has noticed something strange. A paper cup of coffee sits there, still warm, every single day.
At first, she assumes someone forgot it. But the pattern continues too perfectly to be an accident. Odette even wonders, half-joking, if a neighbor is testing some strange kindness experiment on the neighborhood. The cup always appears in the same spot, always around the same time, always still steaming.
One morning, Odette decides to arrive earlier than usual. She hides near a tree and waits, feeling a little silly about the whole thing. Just after six, a woman walks up from the café across the street. She glances at her watch, clearly in a hurry to open the café before the morning rush.
The woman sets a cup down gently on the bench, then turns to leave. Odette jogs over before she can walk away. "Excuse me," she says. "Can I ask why you leave coffee here every day?"
The woman, whose name is Faye, smiles and explains. She owns the small café nearby and tests a new blend every morning. If a fresh cup goes to waste, she would rather share it than throw it out.
"I picked this bench because it's usually empty," Faye admits. "I didn't think anyone noticed." Odette laughs and tells her she has noticed it for two weeks.
From that morning on, Odette stops for a real conversation instead of running past. She has started trying Faye's new blends before anyone else in town does. Now she sits right there on the bench to enjoy them.
